Cyber terrorism goes beyond typical computer hacking or cracking, as some techies call the more malicious activities meant to do damage or carry out crime. In 1998, an unknown perpetrator broke into the computer systems of the U.S. Department of Defense. Iraq, which at the time was resisting U.S. weapons inspections, initially became suspect.
