A British reporter kidnapped by Colombian rebels and held for 11 days before being released to the Red Cross is considering leaving the South American country. Ruth Morris, who has been reporting in Colombia for five years, said she would talk to her family and friends about her ordeal before making a decision. She said: “I think it would be almost cruel to stay and do the same kind of work if my family were anxious about the risks I’m taking.” Ms Morris and American photographer Scott Dalton were kidnapped at a road block in the north-eastern state of Arauca and told that they would be shot if they tried to escape.
