Leaders of the oil-rich Gulf Arab monarchies are expected to approve a joint agreement on combating terrorism at their upcoming annual summit meeting here, Kuwait’s foreign minister said. Sheikh Mohammad al-Sabah said the chief diplomats of the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), who concluded a one-day meeting to draw up the agenda of the December 21-22 summit, decided to refer the agreement to the heads of state for approval. “Our countries are targeted by attempts to undermine their security. We see there were terror attacks in Saudi Arabia and other states … Member states will coordinate and cooperate in fighting terror,” the minister told a press conference. “Certain (domestic) groups, with foreign connections, which have ideas based on a corrupt ideology, aim at destabilizing… our countries,” Sheikh Mohammad added.
