Menino seeks halt of LNG delivery. Security was boosted at Logan Airport yesterday and Mayor Thomas M. Menino said he was trying to divert a liquefied natural gas tanker due here tomorrow as public safety officials scrambled to beef up the city and state’s defenses in response to the raised national threat alert. While there was no threat specific to Boston or elsewhere in the state, MBTA and State police planned to increase their watch over bridges, tunnels, train stations, commuter rail lines and the LNG terminal in Everett, said state Public Safety Secretary Edward Flynn. Governor Mitt Romney, who took part in a conference call with US Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge and the rest of the nation’s governors yesterday, cut short a family vacation in Utah to return to Massachusetts to oversee the state’s security preparations.
