40% of malicious URLs were found on good domains

A new Webroot report provides valuable insights into the threat landscape. The report contains various striking findings, including the fact that 2 out of 5 (40%) malicious URLs can be found on otherwise benign web pages, which indicates that cybercriminals often succeed in injecting legitimate websites with bad links and other malicious content.

The report also found that phishing is an ever-growing threat, with the number of attacks and the number of phishing websites in 2018 increasing 36% and 220% respectively. Luckily, security awareness training seems to be quite effective in reducing the threat from phishing for organizations, as employees who have received training over the course of 12 months are 70% less likely to click on a bad link than untrained users.
