A new report by the Ponemon Institute and Tenable highlights the growing cyber threat to critical infrastructure. The survey found that a whopping 90% of critical infrastructure providers suffered a cyberattack resulting in a data breach and/or downtime in the last two years, while 62% experienced multiple attacks. About 1 in 2 respondents suffered an attack leading to OT downtime.
The greatest security concerns for critical infrastructure providers are third-party risk (65%), IoT/OT-based attacks (63%) and downtime-causing OT attacks (60%), while the most common obstacle to improving threat prevention efforts was a lack of attack surface visibility.
