Panelists Biographies
Neal A. Pollard is the chief information security officer of UBS AG, where he leads the bank’s global cyber and information security program. He is also an adjunct professor of international and public affairs at Columbia University, an adjunct professor of microbiology and immunology at Georgetown University, and an adjunct professor of law at Fordham Law School. Prior to joining UBS, he was a partner at EY, where he led cybersecurity services for global financial institutions. He was also a partner at PwC. Before joining the private sector, he was a senior officer in the US intelligence community, serving multiple counterterrorism assignments at the National Counterterrorism Center and the Central Intelligence Agency. Prior to government service, he was a board director and general counsel of the Terrorism Research Center, Inc., a corporation he founded in 1996. Mr. Pollard has had various academic affiliations, including board director of the Cyber Conflict Studies Association, member of the New York Cyber Task Force, member of the United Nations Experts Group on Use of the Internet for Terrorist Purposes, and life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, where he was a 2005-2006 international affairs fellow. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, the University of St Andrews, Scotland, and the Georgetown University Law Center. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar and is based in New York City and Zurich. (Atlantic Council)
Roberta G. “Bobbie” Stempfley is the Vice President, Business Unit Security Officer (BUSO) – Infrastructure Solutions Group for Dell Technologies. Bobbie brings more than 20 years of security and digital transformation experience to the role and leads the implementation of security and resiliency programs across the Infrastructure Solutions Group. Stempfley is also the Chair of the Center for Internet Security (CIS) Board of Directors.
Before joining Dell, Bobbie served as the Managing Director of the CERT™ Division at the Software Engineering Institute, a part of Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to her time at Carnegie Mellon, Bobbie had a successful career in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Department of Defense where she held senior executive leadership roles in technology and cybersecurity, including Chief Information Officer of the Defense Information Systems Agency and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Cybersecurity and Communications at DHS.
Bobbie has a bachelor’s degree in engineering mathematics from the University of Arizona, a master’s degree in computer science from James Madison University and is a doctoral student at Georgetown University. A recipient of many awards, she was recognized by CyberScoop as among the Top Women in Cybersecurity, by Federal Computer Week in the Fed 100, and by Information Week as one of the Top 50 Government CIOs for two consecutive years. She serves on several boards, including serving as the chairperson at the Center for Internet Security and on advisory boards at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. (cisecurity.org)
