A research team published three separate vulnerabilities in the mobile communication standard LTE (4G). Two of the attacks allow an attacker to view LTE traffic and user details, while the third enables an attacker to manipulate data traveling to users’ devices. The report also indicated that these hacks do not pose a threat to the general public, as they require specialized, expensive equipment and software that would make the tactics described too costly and complex for most cyber criminals. The hacks also require proximity to the target, making them impossible for distant international hackers. The attacks could, however, be directed against special persons of interest to groups with large bankrolls and a human presence in the victim’s location.
