While a number of airports already use facial recognition technology on departing travelers, Silicon Valley’s SJC airport will be the first in the U.S. to roll out facial recognition technology for incoming passengers. The new system will reportedly reduce the processing of foreign nationals by over 85%. The flow of international passengers into the airport has more than doubled since 2015, and this technology is enabling the airport to bolster security without hiring additional staff.
