A new report by the UK Airprox Board (UKAB) shows that the number of dangerous incidents that could have led to a collision between aircraft and drones surged from 91 in 2017 to 125 last year, a 34% increase.
In late 2018, one drone incident at Gatwick airport caused major disruptions and flight cancellations affecting around 140,000 passengers. Experts are warning that the increasing popularity of drones creates new security risks that require government regulation.
