A new survey by Okta shows that many employees are open to passwordless authentication. For example, 70% of employees think that the adoption of biometrics would benefit their organization. According to Dr. Maria Bada of Cambridge University, the research indicates that many employees dislike passwords because they “can experience negative emotions and stress due to forgetting a password,” which “can impact not only their career but also their emotional health.”
The study found that a whopping 78% of employees put their firm at risk by relying on insecure methods to prevent themselves from forgetting passwords. These methods include using certain passwords for multiple accounts (34%), writing passwords down on paper (26%), saving passwords on their computer or phone (17%) and using common passwords (6%).
