In collaboration with Made in Space, NASA is working on a revolutionary new spacecraft called Archinaut One that will include an extended-structure 3D printer and a robotic arm. Together, these features will “enable remote in-space construction of items, including things like communication antenna, large scale space telescopes and other complex structure.”
NASA believes the Archinaut One could represent a major leap forward in the context of space exploration as it will make it possible to quickly repair important equipment if something breaks down in space. In addition, the Archinaut One will relieve astronauts of menial tasks and give them more freedom to focus on scientific endeavors instead.
