A ransomware attack has paralyzed the network of Campbell County Health (CCH), a healthcare system in Gillette, Wyoming that is compromised of various hospitals, clinics and care centers. Last Friday, the malware infected all 1500 computers as well the email server of the healthcare provider, leading to the cancellation of surgeries and appointments as well as the suspension of new inpatient admissions in various centers.
CCH is transferring patients arriving at its emergency rooms and walk-in clinics to other hospitals in the area. The organization announced that it has notified local authorities of the attack and that “efforts are underway to restore the affected systems.” According to CCH, no patient data has been exposed as a result of the attack.
