U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol agents identified and arrested 23,502 individuals with criminal records nationwide with the aid of the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) in just a three-month span, from September 2004 to November 2004. “This 21st century biometric identification technology is a critical law enforcement tool for our CBP Border Patrol agents,” stated U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Robert C.
