The Syrian government daily Tishrin condemned on Wednesday what it called support from Arab parties for US pressure being exerted on Damascus over its alleged interference in Lebanon and Iraq. “We are really surprised that some Arab political figures and media are supporting, in secret or in public, the campaign of partial pressure being exerted by Washington,” it said. Tishrin warned “the Arabs involved in the US pressure on Damascus against falling into the trap that has been set for them. “These Arabs are playing a dangerous role as demanded by the Americans, even though the United States recognises only Israel as their friend,” said the newspaper.
