Washington state is beefing up efforts to combat high-tech fraud, and banks and their customers could be among the biggest beneficiaries. The state’s Consumer Protection Division, part of the attorney general’s office, has hired three new staffers since August and last summer received an additional $1.6 million in funding, some of which was earmarked for computer-related investigations.
