Security in Metro Manila was tightened yesterday (Feb 13), the eve of last year’s deadly Valentine’s Day bombings by Moro rebels, as fresh rumours swirled of a coup plot against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Under “Task Force Valentine,” extra police patrolled the streets and 10 mobile checkpoints were set up after dark. The Coast Guard was also placed on high alert. The security fears were heightened by rumours of a “typhoon coup” against Ms Arroyo, whose legitimacy continues to be questioned following allegations of vote-rigging and graft. Full Story
