Yemen recalls ambassador to Libya over alleged support for rebellion

Yemen has recalled its ambassador to Libya for consultations in protest at what it claims is Tripoli’s backing for a deadly uprising among the Zaidi minority, an official said on Friday. Meanwhile, a week of deadly clashes between the rebels led by Abdel-Malek al-Houthi in the northern Saada Province – 180 kilometers north of the capital, Sanaa – and government troops, claimed the lives of 150 people, mostly young men, according to an army official. The military official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told The Associated Press the past week witnessed some of the most fierce battles between rebels and government troops. Speaking to AFP in Tripoli, however, Libyan Foreign Minister Abdel-Rahman Shalgam denied any rupture, and accused an unidentified third party of trying to poison relations.Full Story
