A state capital’s police chief was gunned down early Wednesday in southern Mexico amid continuing drug violence across the nation, authorities said. Assailants cut off the vehicle of Artemio Mejia, the police chief of Chilpancingo, and riddled him with bullets near the state governor’s residence, said state police commander Felipe Flores.
