Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused those opposed to Qatar’s involvement in the sale of Sabah-atv of discrimination yesterday. It’s simply equal to racism against capital Erdogan said in Parliament, addressing his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputies. The opposition is critical of Erdogan’s visit to Qatar and the flow of Qatari capital to the Çalik Group, which officially took over some media assets including Sabah newspaper and the atv channel. The group’s Qatari partner financed part of the $1.1 billion payment to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF). Çalik Group’s top executive is Erdogan’s son-in-law. Full Story
