The House of Lords ruled Wednesday that Britain’s anti-fraud agency acted lawfully when it halted a corruption inquiry into a major jet fighter and arms deal between BAE Systems and Saudi Arabia. The ruling was a blow to the anti-corruption lobby groups that challenged the Serious Fraud Office’s decision to drop its investigation into whether the arms maker offered sweeteners to Saudi officials in return for lucrative contracts.
