The U.S. Department of Justice has announced plans to inform Americans of attempts to undermine confidence in U.S. democracy conducted by foreign agents. The Deputy Attorney General stated that “exposing schemes to the public is an important way to neutralize them…the American people have a right to know if foreign governments are targeting them with propaganda.” The Justice Department also issued a new Cyber-Digital Task Force Report that lists the leading cyber threats and the actions being taken to counter them. A leading issue is the protection of elections, as the U.S. prepares for midterms in the coming months.
