Google has accidentally revealed the locations of various secret Taiwanese military sites through an update of its 3D satellite imagery platform Google Earth.
The update includes new 3D depictions of the Taiwanese cities Taipei and Taichung and the special municipalities New Taipei and Taoyuan. This allows users to see various Taiwanese military sites, including a facility for Patriot missiles and the buildings of the Taiwanese National Security Bureau and the Military Intelligence Bureau. Google has not yet commented on the incident.
This is not the first time that secret military facilities have been unintentionally exposed by a software application. Last year, a fitness tracking app revealed the locations of various secret US military bases.
