Group-IB has released a new study that analyzes cybercrime activity in Southeast Asia, which the company describes as “one of the most actively attacked regions in the world.” Last year, a total of 21 state-backed hacking groups were detected in the region, more than the combined number for the US and Europe.
Singapore, one of the largest financial centers in the region, was the most popular target by far, with researchers finding nearly 20,000 stolen payment cards for Singaporean banks for sale on the dark web, the total value of which was estimated at around $640,000.
