Hexion and Momentive, two major US chemical companies, each suffered a ransomware attack on March 12 that prevented the firms from accessing certain data and systems. In a pair of Friday press releases, the companies both referred to a “security incident” that had mostly disrupted “corporate functions”, and stated that they had implemented recovery plans.
Some security experts believe that the attacks involved LockerGoga, the same malware that was used in last week’s disruptive attack on Norwegian aluminum giant Norsk Hydro.
