With Tax Day only ten days away, cybercriminals are trying to take advantage of tax season through widespread phishing campaigns that aim to trick people into providing sensitive information, or opening malicious attachments containing malware designed to steal financial information or cause other trouble.
Proofpoint points out that tax-related malware always increases during tax season, as one would expect. Researchers with the firm have outlined various popular tax scams that currently target people and companies in the US and various other countries.
