A new report by Burning Glass Technologies shows that while the number of cybersecurity professionals is increasing, in part due to various initiatives aiming to bridge the cyber skills gap, demand for cybersecurity workers is growing as well. Because of this, the skills shortage remains as large as it was three years ago. For every infosec vacancy, there are only 2.3 employed workers that could fill it. This is far lower than the average of 6 workers per job opening across all sectors.
Between 2013 and 2017, cybersecurity training programs for workers increased by a third and the number of graduates rose by more than 40%. However, the number of infosec-related job openings surged by 94% over that same period.
