A new survey by GreatHorn sheds light on the massive threat that email-based attacks pose to organizations. It shows that 22% of organizations experienced a data breach that started with an email-based attack in the past three months alone.
About one in two professionals receive malicious emails on a daily (24.4%) or weekly (25.4%) basis. These attacks come in many forms, including impersonation attempts, requests for wire transfers, attempts to steal login credentials and malicious links or attachments. The survey also shows that employees without specific expertise in terms of email security are likely to misidentify email attacks as mere spam, which may put organizations at risk.
