Israel on Monday carried out airstrikes on Hamas military targets in the Gaza Strip, the country’s military said, adding that the operation was a response to three rockets launched “from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory.” However, Hamas denied that it or any other Palestinian faction had carried out rocket attacks on Israeli targets. The airstrikes did not result in any casualties.
The Israeli government also announced that it will reduce the amount of fuel going into Gaza to the main power station “until further notice.” Tensions in Gaza have increased in recent weeks, with an increase in Palestinian rocket fire, Israeli airstrikes, and attempts by Gaza residents to cross the border into Israel. Officially Hamas and Israel still adhere to a ceasefire.
