Iran confirmed that an explosion took place last Thursday at the country’s Imam Khomeini Space Center. On Friday, US President Trump tweeted footage of the site after explosion and stated that the US had not been involved in the incident. The footage was apparently taken by a US spy satellite.
Iranian government spokesman Ali Rabiei acknowledged the explosion and criticized Trump for tweeting about it. Rabiei denied that incident, which marks the third failure involving a rocket at the space center, was the result of sabotage in the country’s space program. Iran has been preparing for a satellite launch, which has drawn criticism from Washington.
