A security researcher has discovered critical vulnerabilities in NASA’s open source software, used in-house by the organization. The vulnerabilities could potentially be used by a malicious actor to breach NASA’s systems. During Leon Juraníc’s probing of the open source software, he discovered a series of buffer overflow vulnerabilities. The flaws could also be exploited by state-sponsored threat actors at NASA and other government institutions.
