The EU has extended sanctions on Assad linked entities.
The EU has renewed sanctions on individuals and entities linked to former Syrian President Bashar al‑Assad’s government for another year, extending them until June 1, 2027. Seven Syrian entities were removed from the sanctions list as part of a broader easing of measures following Assad’s fall in 2024. The EU says the delistings are meant to support engagement with Syria’s new government, while maintaining restrictions on figures accused of past abuses. Syria’s foreign ministry welcomed the partial removal, saying it would aid reconstruction and stability.
