Pakistan has deployed its army to its capital with instructions to shoot protestors if warranted. Deadly clashes between supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and police have escalated. Soldiers have been ordered to defend government buildings as well. Khan’s supporters are demanding his immediate release from prison, where he was arrested after calling for demonstrations over the weekend. Khan has been accusing the Pakistani government of conspiring against his party and undermining democracy. Multiple civilians have died from bullet wounds, but officials are denying that police have opened fire on protestors. The capital is currency on lockdown with cellular and internet services suspended in multiple areas. Some major highways are also currently blocked off.
