Two Peacekeeper Casualties in Kabul Rocket Attack

International peacekeepers suffered two casualties in a rocket attack in the Afghan capital on Sunday, a spokesman said, but he declined to say whether they were wounded or killed. “Before 9 p.m. (12:30 p.m. EDT) we had reports of three rockets (being fired),” said Lieutenant Richard Scarth, spokesman for the 6,500-strong NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) patrolling Kabul. “There was an ISAF vehicle involved. I am not able to say their nationalities. We’ve got no more news,” he added, saying there would be no more details available until Monday morning. The attack occurred along the road running east out of Kabul toward Jalalabad, where several ISAF bases are located. British peacekeepers cordoned off the area and a helicopter flew over the scene.
