A bomb exploded in a crowded bus, killing at least five people and critically wounding 17 on Thursday in the northeastern Indian state of Assam, police said. The explosion blew the bus apart near Mathurapur, 225 miles east of the state capital of Gauhati, a police officer said on condition of anonymity. Other details were not immediately released.
