Four suspected Islamist militants and a civilian were killed in a nine-hour gunfight with security forces south of Kuwait City which resulted in the arrest of the extremists’ spiritual leader. The battle, the fourth such clash between militants and the authorities within the space of the month, also left three policemen injured, one seriously, interior ministry spokesman Adel al-Hashash said.
