Virus-laden e-mail and criminal-driven security attacks increased by 50 per cent in the first half of this year, reports IBM Corp.

Among the most notable trends the company spotted was a significant rise in ‘customized’ attacks on the government, financial services, manufacturing and health-care industries and large multinational corporations, particularly within the aerospace, petroleum, and manufacturing industries.
