SCOTLAND’S two nuclear power stations are to have their own dedicated teams of armed police to protect them from attack by terrorists. Armed guards will be stationed at the power stations at Hunterston in Ayrshire and Torness in East Lothian, which between them produce about 40% of Scotland’s electricity. It will be the first time that working power stations in Scotland have had their own armed guards. Scotland’s two decommissioned nuclear installations, Dounreay in Caithness and Chapelcross near Dumfries, already have armed guards on call. Full Story
