A policeman was shot dead and another critically injured by militants on Sunday in the busy Lal Chowk at the heart of this city, officials said. The two constables of Kothibagh police station, Ghulam Mohiuddin and Ghulam Hassan, who were on duty near the Ghanta Ghar (clock tower) at Lal Chowk were shot at point blank range at around 12.50 pm, they said.
