MALAYSIAN and Indonesian police have agreed to set up a task force to co-ordinate the hunt for top regional leaders of Jemaah Islamiyah (JI). The agreement was made during Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Norian Mai’s visit to Jakarta last week. Speaking to the media yesterday, Norian said other Asean countries would also be invited to join the task force. Among them are Singapore and the Philippines. Asked whether the JI leaders targeted were Malaysians Dr Azhari Husin and Nordin Mat Top, and Indonesian Riduan Isamuddin alias Hambali, the police chief replied in the positive. However, when asked if the task force was formed because the police knew the whereabouts of the trio, Norian declined comment. He confirmed that police discovered a large amount of ammonium nitrate at a plantation in Johor last weekend. He said reports that the fertiliser weighed about four tonnes were in-correct, adding that the weight was much less, but declined to give details. Full Story
