Liu Xiaoming, China’s ambassador to Britain, accused the UK and US of interfering in China and Hong Kongs’ internal affairs amid violent protests. Xiaoming claimed that the British government’s foreign affairs committee included remarks criticizing Hong Kong’s domestic policies regarding the ongoing protests and that the US government aimed to interfere in Hong Kong when a human rights and democracy act was passed recently.
Xiaoming stated that the Chinese government was willing to take military action against the demonstrations, stating that they possessed the power and resolution to ultimately end the protests. Yesterday evening, the German government stated that they were concerned by the violent protests and hoped that a peaceful conclusion would occur soon. The latest news from Hong Kong continues the trend of increasing violence as college campuses are barricaded by police and student protestors are countered with tear gas, handcuffs, and physical violence.
