The FBI, investigating the 2001 deadly anthrax attacks, said on Friday it is conducting more searches for evidence on public land in Frederick, Maryland. Following up on last month’s searches, the FBI said the new searches were related to its investigation into the origin of the anthrax-laced letters mailed in September and October 2001, which resulted in five deaths. “Based on water testing already conducted, there is no indication of any threat to public health or safety associated with our search activities,” the FBI said in a brief statement.
