He says he can get into your e-mail account in no time, access even US President George Bush’s personal computer, if it is on line, in flat 48 hours. Yes, he is a hacker, but says he does it for a ‘public cause’. Meet M Jayashankar, chief executive officer of Caliber Plus, a web hosting firm in Kodambakkam. His hacking skills came handy in tracking down one of the most notorious cyber gangsters in the world known as Nigeria 419. It all started when Jayashankar received an e-mail requesting him to permit the transfer of US $ 30 million to his bank account. The mail, which has been doing the rounds for quite sometime in the cyber world, says that a ‘Nigerian’ official wants to transfer his unaccounted money to your account and you can get a 25 per cent cut from the US$ 30 million. Once you show some interest, the next mail will give you more details. And one of them asks you to transfer US$ 5000 to sender’s account as fee for the attorney. The ‘advance fee fraud’ actually begins here and if you get hooked to it, you are done. It may sound foolish, but hundreds of people, including a few from India, have fallen prey to this trickster.
