MANY corporates are expected to move into IP telephony towards the end of the year, but many are oblivious to critical security threats, according to research by analyst META Group. The researcher finds existing IP telephony products and projects demonstrate an “alarming lack of protective security measures”, leaving enterprises open to privacy violations, fraud, and malicious attacks. With voice over internet protocol (VoIP) growing as a popular cost-saving communications option, early deployments were basic, and focused on voice quality and interoperability issues, the analyst finds.
