CIA director George Tenet believes there is no reason to worry prematurely that the Athens Olympics in August will be hit by a terrorist attack. “Let’s not worry prematurely,” he told the Ta Nea daily. “Terrorism is obviously something which concerns us a lot. Our aim is for the Games to go ahead in complete safety. We are working hard to ensure that becomes a fact.” He believes NATO’s aid will contribute to a secure Games. Last week Greece called on NATO to provide backup for aerial and maritime surveillance and eventual chemical and biological attacks during the Games. And Greek and US forces were taking part in a security exercise, involving security experts from Britain, Germany, Israel and Canada, until March 29. Full Story
