Guerrillas loyal to Shi’ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr clashed with U.S. forces overnight near the Iraqi city of Kufa, witnesses said on Tuesday. They had no immediate information on casualties. A clash on Monday in neighboring Najaf, south of Baghdad, between U.S. forces and members of Sadr’s Mehdi Army killed five Iraqis and wounded 15, a hospital director said. Sadr militiamen also spread out in Amara, 230 miles southwest of Baghdad in the British zone of control, witnesses said. There was no immediate comment from the British military. Full Story
