Hundreds of protesters, some armed with bows and arrows, blocked a highway in eastern India to protest the police shooting of 12 tribals who were seeking to block construction of a steel plant, witnesses said. A policeman was also killed in the clash Monday in the industrial hub of Kalinga Nagar in Orissa state where tribals have vowed not to part with any land for industrial projects. A police officer, who did not wish to be identified, said Monday police fired on the crowd after they started shooting bows and arrows. Full Story
