The United States is facing a defiant Iran, a stubborn insurgency in Iraq and an impending takeover of the Palestinian government by Hamas. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice seemed sure to face persistent questions about Bush administration policies on all three fronts Wednesday in a scheduled appearance before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
