Russia’s foreign ministry Monday expressed concern over the United States’ new national security strategy and said it could worsen bilateral relations. “The United States is ready to work closely with Russia on issues of mutual interest, but the development of our relations will depend on the correctness of [Russia’s] internal and foreign policy in the opinion of the U.S.,” the ministry said in a statement. The U.S. National Security Strategy, released on March 16, “further states that recent tendencies in Russia point to allegedly decreasing adherence to democratic freedoms and institutions,” the statement said. “Should this be treated as a direct indication that some bad times await Russian-American relations in the near future?” Full Story
