The World Food Programme in Nepal is to send food to remote drought stricken areas where thousands of people are at risk of starvation, the United Nations agency said in a statement. “Food insecurity is already a fact of life in these districts and we are very concerned that the effects of the drought will exacerbate what is already a precarious situation,” said Richard Ragan, WFP country director.
